Hi, my name is Michelle, I graduated Somerville House in 2022 with an ATAR of 99.5, placing me in the top 0.5% of graduating students. I achieved many school-based prizes during high school, where I was Dux of my cohort in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Further, I finished Grade 12 as top of subject in Maths Methods, Specialist Maths and Chinese, and my GPA was consistently in the top 10% of my cohort from 2017 to 2022. I have been recognized by the Queensland Department of Education as an Outstanding STEM Student, achieving the Peter Doherty Award for Excellence in STEM in 2022 and have achieved National titles in mathematical modelling, by being a National Finalist in the International Mathematics Modelling Challenge in 2021. Within English, I have a discerning ability for editing assignments, analysis of literary texts and have experience in preparing for unseen essays, especially for externals. Specifically, I have helped students prepare for Macbeth, Hamlet, Burial Rites, Jane Eyre, Never Let Me Go, Pride and Prejudice, Nineteen Eighty Four, The Crucible, The Great Gatsby, The Martian, 1917, Blade Runner and Stranger Things and therefore can guide students to maximise their English assignments.

I run tailored one-to-one teaching sessions to get you prepared for all the content in the year ahead for English, Maths Methods, Specialist Maths, Biology and Chemistry. I prepare resources for you prior to lessons which I provide to you included in the price of tutorials, which will include my step by step teaching approach through the syllabus and my exam approaches which have helped myself and my previous students succeed in their ATAR. I will point out to you commonly examined portions of the syllabus and focus more time on complex parts of the syllabus to make best use of our tutorial time.

I am incredibly familiar with the course content and can provide tricks and tips into acing or improving your performance. I understand the importance of performing at your best at school. I can share my extra textbooks, worksheets, large bank of more difficult problems that I used during my own high school studies as well as acquired over years of tutoring experience to help you achieve at your very best.

I specialise in tutoring all levels of English (Y2-12), Maths (particularly Senior Maths Methods), Biology as well as Chemistry. As a high-achieving student across all subjects and a recent graduate of the new QCAA syllabus, I am confident that I have mastered all aspects of these courses. Additionally, as a UQ Science Ambassador who hosted morning science tutorials, I have accumulated a significant amount of experience in tutoring sciences to younger students. I also have a Blue Card (Working with Children Check).

In the past I have never had a student that I have not seen improvement in while they were being tutored by me, and most had significant improvements in their results. Lessons can be structured according to your goals, I can prepare notes for you in advance, or can simply work through questions you are having trouble with.
